Specialized Events
CityMUN offers a variety of specialized events designed to enhance the conference experience, promote learning, and encourage cultural exchange. Each event provides delegates with opportunities to engage, learn, and grow in diplomacy, leadership, and international collaboration.
Opening Ceremony
Delegates will be warmly welcomed at the CityMUN Conference during a remarkable Opening Ceremony.
This event is usually graced by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic community, and representatives from the media. It serves as a grand introduction to the conference, setting a formal and inspiring tone for the days to come.
Grand Symposium
CityMUN provides a grand symposium where distinguished individuals deliver speeches on the central theme of the conference and inspire/motivate delegates with their personal stories.
In the past, we have had the privilege of hosting renowned leadership experts such as Dr. Ahmed Buhari, Dr. Linus Okorie (President, GOTNI), Prof. Sheriff F. Folarin (Texas State University), Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Sen. Ireti Kingibe (Senator Representing the FCT), Fola Daniel Adelesi, Prof. Moses Duruji – Covenant University, among others.
These speakers share their insights on global issues, leadership, and diplomacy, offering delegates a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
Preparatory Class
CityMUN offers preparatory classes before the committee sessions commence, aimed at assisting delegates, especially first-timers, in understanding how Model United Nations (MUN) functions and delving deeper into the Rules of Procedure.
These preparatory classes will be conducted by seasoned Model UN veterans, with support from our secretariat members. They will guide delegates through the step-by-step procedures of MUN, ensuring everyone is well-prepared to participate actively and confidently.
Committee Session
The Committee Sessions, led by Chairpersons, are the core of a Model UN Conference. Delegates have the opportunity to simulate real United Nations (UN) sessions, representing their assigned countries as diplomats.
During these sessions, delegates engage in debates on pressing global issues, negotiate, and collaborate to draft resolutions to address some of the world’s most critical problems. This is where the skills of diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking are put to the test.
Cultural Night/ Entertainment
One of the most enjoyable parts of CityMUN, and Model UN conferences in general, is the Cultural Night. CityMUN hosts a cultural/entertainment night where all delegates dress in the cultural attire of their country of origin or the country they represent at the conference.
They showcase their cultures through colorful performances, including traditional dances, music, and other forms of artistic expression. This event fosters cultural exchange and bonding among delegates.
City Tour
As part of the conference experience, CityMUN arranges a recreational city tour, allowing delegates to explore the host city and appreciate its beauty.
This tour provides a break from the formal sessions and an opportunity to learn about the local culture, history, and attractions, enriching the overall conference experience.
Diplomatic Dinner / Awards Night
CityMUN hosts a prestigious Diplomatic Dinner/Awards Night, offering delegates the opportunity to connect and build relationships in a formal yet relaxed setting.
The diversity of delegates, both local and international, provides a significant learning opportunity. The Diplomatic Dinner allows delegates to expand their networks and engage in meaningful conversations with peers and mentors.
Awards
To acknowledge outstanding performances during the conference, CityMUN presents several awards with prizes. Distinguished individuals will present these awards to student delegates, school delegations, and faculty advisors who have excelled during the event.
These awards recognize exceptional contributions, leadership, and diplomacy, encouraging participants to strive for excellence.
