Welcome message from the Secretary-General CITYMUN 2025

“The UN was not created to take mankind to heaven, but to save humanity from hell.” – Dag Hammarskjöld

Distinguished Delegates, Respected Faculty Advisors, and Honored Guests,
It is with great honor and sincere anticipation that I welcome you all to CITYMUN 2025. As
Secretary-General, it is both a privilege and a profound responsibility to lead a forum where
diplomacy is not merely taught, but lived.

Model United Nations is more than a simulation — it is crucible for leadership, critical
thinking, and the art of peaceful negotiation. As you enter your committees, remember that
you are not just students representing countries; you are voices speaking for millions, minds
grappling with global challenges, and hearts striving to create solutions.

At its core, MUN teaches us that “diplomacy is the art of building bridges where others see
barriers.” It reminds us that every word we speak in committee has the power to unite or
divide, to ignite conflict or to inspire compromise.

This year’s conference theme will as always stand as a testament to our shared commitment
to global cooperation, equity, and sustainable peace. Whether you are debating climate
policy, human rights, or technological governance, let your resolutions be guided not only by
logic but by empathy — for that is what distinguishes a delegate from a true diplomat.

To those embarking on their first MUN journey, I encourage you to embrace every
opportunity — speak with courage, listen with intent, and grow with humility. And to our
seasoned delegates, your experience is a beacon — use it to foster inclusivity and elevate the
discourse within your committees.

Behind this grand simulation lies the tireless work of a Secretariat and Organizing Team who
believe in the potential of every delegate. Their vision and dedication have made this
platform possible, and their efforts are deeply appreciated.

As you step into this conference, remember: you are not just discussing the future — you are
shaping it. Let this MUN not be an end in itself, but a beginning — of leadership,
collaboration, and a lifelong commitment to the values of diplomacy.

I wish you all a conference filled with intellectual vigor, mutual respect, and transformative
dialogue.

Warmest regards,
Arshia Patel
Secretary-General
